“Authenthic Egyptian Food”
These words appeared repeatedly on their reviews. Egypt has been a place that I’ve always dreamed of traveling to and I am mightily curious about all things egypt – including their food!
So here’s my little pitstop to Tut’s Egyptian Eatery!
Tut’s Egyptian Eatery
Tut’s Dynasty Fries
There are a number of sides to choose from, and out of those are 3 different types of fries : sweet potato fries, house fries (regular kind) and Tut’s Dynasty Fries (shown above).
The ‘Tut’s Dynasty Fries’ are heavily breaded and gives you an extra crisp to each bite! It is said that they are coated with secret herbs, however, I found the taste a bit bland that day. Perhaps it was just an unlucky batch where it wasn’t up to it’s best. I like it, but was hoping that the ‘secret herb’ flavour would pop a little more.
I paired it with their Cheese sauce which has a mild, more refreshing taste rather than the usual strong cheese flavoured sauce you get elsewhere.
Hawaoshi Baked Meat Foldover
(Beef) RM17.90 + one side dish
(Lamb) Rm18.80 + one side dish
The Hawaoshi Baked Meat Foldover has a very unique taste with an outer crusted layer (similar to panini) filled with a good portion of meat. I find the taste very hard to describe. It is definitely something you don’t get outside. The spices and seasonings added to it make it very special indeed. I’ve seen a lot of food that look like this, but never one that taste like this.
Biram Bamya Succulent Stew
Comes in 4 flavours (Beef, Lamb, Chicken, Vegetarian), each with a side dish.
Price ranging from Rm14.90 – Rm29.50
Definitely our favourite out of the above. We got the garlic bread to go with it. The meat is very tender (we got beef) and the baby ladyfingers are a great match to the stew. The stew is very flavourful, I would personally choose to have it with Tut’s Egyptian Savoury Rice rather than Garlic Bread next time.
Tut’s Egyptian Eatery have a lot more interesting food to try. On my next round, I’d love to try their Koshari Mixed Grain Bowl and Molokhia Minced Leaf Stew. If possible, I’d also slot in a hot bowl of Egyptian Lentil Soup! Can’t wait to come back to try these out!
