Every week for the past 3 months since 2018 begun, my weekends have been stripped away for meetings, trainings, classes and running errands. Every-single-week.
Then April came by and finally! It was time for a well deserved getaway! Thanks to SPARK Foundation, I was blessed with a stay at Sekeping Serendah for 2pax.
I checked up on more details and at an additional Rm50/pax, I was able to bring along my 2 great friends – Elaine & Guo Unn for a double date retreat! Woot woot!
The place allocated for us is Mud Shed Room 2. The four of us bunked together where the girls slept on the double bed with the mosquito net (yay!) and the guys slept on the single beds where they serve their duty in sacrificing their blood.
A table sits right in front of the double bed where we pretty much threw everything on. There are shelves provided on the left wall, right outside the toilet and a couch at the corner of the room.
Towels and toiletries are not provided, so please bring your own.
This is the kitchen/living area (Shared between Mud Shed 1 and Mud Shed 2). The room at the back is Mud Shed 1 which is the exact duplicate of ours – Mud Shed 2. We were really lucky as Mud Shed 1 wasn’t occupied that day, so we had it all to ourselves.
Kitchen area
There are a few things that are already provided so you won’t have to bring them –
1. Gas Hob & Cooking Wok
2. Kettle
3. Plates, Cups, Cutleries
4. Knifes & Cutting Board
5. Toaster
6. Fridge
7. Cloth & Dish Washing Liquid
8. Thongs & Bbq Sticks
There are 2 public pools available at Sekeping Serendah, Selangor. This is the first. It is a larger open area easily accessible by most rooms.
This is the second pool. You’ll need to hike up a little if you’re staying at Mud Shed, but it is more secluded than the first and is very cosy. It’s a longer pool that looks out to the beautiful greens. The back (left of photo, not shown) is a cement wall with a joint cement bench. It keeps you away from prying eyes.
There is a larger living quarters (Warehouse) that house 10pax. It sits on the hill right above this pool. The cement wall hides away most of the pool area, but the front part of the pool will still be visible from the warehouse above. And yes, you can hear people talking from there. But still, it’s a lovely pool and I really like just chilling there.
ps. water is super crazy cold! (I like! Super refreshing!)
If you’re not keen on swimming, or have plenty of time (there’s low to no wifi/line here, so you’ll surely have time) you can also go on their short trails. Do take note that you should always send your bravest warrior with ZERO fear of spiders to go first. We walked into spider webs quite a few times..
Our lovely evening was wonderfully spent with a scrumptious bbq dinner! The peeps here will assist you in starting your bbq pit. Just let them know what time you need them to set it up for you. You are not required to bring any charcoal or fire starters.
Lovely lights brought by Elaine Tan to set the mood, accompanied by great music from Guo Unn’s portable speakers.
We all had a huge feast till we can no longer stuff our tummies no more. The night went by with a round of ‘Settlers of Catan’ before we got ready for bed.
A surprise gift sat outside waiting to greet us the next morning..
Tadaaaa!
We made sure we close the bin properly, but still, the dogs got the better of us. You might wanna consider putting the bin closer inside to the kitchen area or find some other ways to make sure it won’t be tempered with.
Found this lady roaming around in the morning. Did YOU touch our trash, missy? (There were quite a few dogs around)
Our left over sausages from the night before as breakfast. The wok didn’t seem too clean (a little rusted at the bottom) so we use a piece of aluminium foil just in case.
It was a really relaxing getaway – no calls, no messages (Superb!)
One last thing to take note of :
> The people there are very strict. Mud Shed only allows a max of 4pax and no visitors are allowed.
> Check out is by 12pm – we weren’t even allowed to check out of our rooms and sit around the pool area for a bit (we were halfway through a game of Catan). Check out = get out of the premises
That’s all! I’d say it was a lovely retreat and I’d love to come back again someday. I miss the pool!
