We bought our flight and hotel on AirAsia Go. After scrolling through so many hotel choices, we settled with Metta Residence & Spa. We flew off on 22nd March’18 and came back on 25th.
Metta Residence & Spa is a 5 star hotel located about 2km away from Pub Street in Siem Reap, Cambodia. I’d say we made the right choice for this place! My experience here has been splendid! Learn more about the hotel here.
Alrighty! Enough with all that! Let’s start with Day 1!
We touched down to the airport in Cambodia at about 8am (Cambodia Time). Our hotel provides free airport transfer both ways and I’ve contacted them regarding our pickup. However, I did not receive a confirmation from them after I gave them my flight details. I forgot about it till the night before we flew. Dropped them several messages but it was late and there were no response just yet. Furthermore, I didn’t have data to check my email for a response.
I was afraid they weren’t gonna show up. Worst case scenario, we just take a cab to our hotel, but I feel extra horrible cause I have my friends along with me and didn’t want to trouble them. Upon arrival, we looked out to see if anyone came for us. True enough someone held up a paper with my name.. or, somewhat like my name… It was spelt “Huey Lew Jolene Chia”. I have no idea how they got it tangled up that way.
We reached the hotel and was greeted by their manager – Kim. Our check in time is only at 12pm, so we loitered around the hotel lounge for a bit. Kim came by in a short while and told us that he’s upgraded our room to the biggest rooms in Metta Residence!
It’s a Villa with a Private Pool!! *gasp!* We were able to check-in in just a short while and need not wait till 12.
We ooo-ed and ahh-ed at the villa, fought over which rooms to have, rested for a bit and left for Pub Street.
We had our lunch at a local restaurant, visited the market, walked around and hunt for tours!
I ordered the Coconut Sauce Fish Rice. It was alright. I was looking forward to taste more of the coconut sauce, but it was very mild.
Jo Bee decided to ‘dapao’ her leftover coconut water and they actually placed the WHOLE coconut into a plastic bag!
There is a stop at Pub Street with great deals for tourists. We planned our days and brought some brochures home.
In the late afternoon, we headed out for ATV. It was a really great experience going round the countryside and watching the sunset at the end around 6pm.
My favourite photo from our ATV adventures.

There were a lot food choices, but we all agreed that the quality was average. It wasn’t all that great but it was alright for the price paid. When the show ended, we head over the mall opposite and bought some snacks, drinks and cup noodles.
That morning when we checked in, there were a lot of mosquitoes (the pool area has an open top) around and there were also a lot of bugs in the pool. We asked the hotel staff to clean out the pool and to our surprised, once we got back from Pub Street, it was already cleaned. They’ve also got rid of most of the mosquitoes for us. I find them super efficient!
