What you’ll need :
1) Clear Bauble
2) Gold Spray Paint
3) White Clay
4) Hot Glue Gun
5) Wing Paper Template (DIY)
6) X acto knife/blade
Alright wizards! First up, get your clear transparent baubles and turn them gold!
With your wand of course! If you’re unable to do so, I guess a good old Gold Spray Paint would do!
This is the brand I’m using..
This will allow the paint to be coated smoothly to create the body of The Golden Snitch.
Next, you’ll want to make the lovely wings!
Option 1 : Find a suitable wing on the internet and print it out according to the size you want.
Option 2 : Draw your wings yourself (I did 2 different designs; one to look more like the real snitch in the movie, and another with a fuller fluffier wing)
Roll out your white clay into a thin flat piece. Place your cut wing template on top and trace with an x-acto knife. Do this to make both sides of your wings.
Here’s some pictures of the progress in making the more realistic looking Golden Snitch wings.
The next step is to combine the wings so the dear o snitch would be able to fly in it’s game of Quidditch! Get your hot glue gun ready, or use a handy dandy super glue! Mark or eyeball where you want the wings to be, plop some hot glue on the front tip of the wings and attach it to it’s Snitch body.
And with that you’re done! Congratulations young wizard! You can always attach a string to the top and hang it above your bed or study table. It makes a lovely decoration. Works fantastic as a Christmas ornament too! I mean, the Snitch’s body IS a christmas bauble after all!
