In the morning, Happy & Merry Kitchen functions as a Chinese Hawker with stalls selling a variety of food. From Wan Tan Mee to Char Kuey Teow to Pan Mee and so on.
At night, they provide you with a menu to choose from.
Yam Basket with Chicken.
The flavour is great. I especially love how flavourful the yam is. However, we found the portion very small. The yam basket is much smaller than those we’ve ate elsewhere and the there were only a few pieces of chicken. The dish is mostly filled with the crispy bits to make it seem fuller.
‘Qing Long Cai’ translates into Green Dragon Vegetable.
A mixture of Qing Long Cai and Taugeh (Bean Sprout).
Again, it was nice, but the bean sprout (known to be a cheap vege) has a larger portion than the Qing Long Cai.
MY FAVOURITE DISH. Finally something I can praise nicely.
This is called the ‘Yin Yeong Kai Lan’. The leafy parts are all chopped up and fried. It’s crunchy and taste like seaweed. Kai Lan is also known as Chinese Broccoli, and the bits does give a similar flavour to broccoli – which I love! This is a must try if you ever come here! And surprisingly, the portion of it is big!
Thai-style Chicken. Flesh is tender and skin is crispy. The sauce is a mixture of sweet and sour. Not bad.
Menu :
They have more things in the menu like soup and drinks, but there are so many pages. I decided to just snap few pages for main dishes. Pricing is not that great in my opinion. 4 pax (my parents, grandma and myself) with the dishes above came up to Rm72.6
I felt the flavour and everything was nice. It’s just that the portion and how they tend to put more of the cheaper ingredients (crispy bits and taugeh) etc was a bit upsetting. Though I have been hunting for ‘Yin Yeong Kai Lan’ around my area for very long with no luck. So I might just come back mainly for that.
