Day 7! It was our last day to enjoy Australia before heading back to good old Malaysia!
We fuelled our morning with a yummilicious breakfast at Elk Cafe!
While heading over, we played with GU’s Penny board. He brought it along from Malaysia, but we have yet to really use it. So Day 7’s is where it finally sees light.
I’m not very talented with the Penny board. I think I’ll stick to walking for now..
Back to Elk Cafe! )
I really enjoyed my food there! We almost wanted to head back the next day!
The place was already full when we reached! We thought we were fairly early. While waiting for seats, we checked out their instagram photos! The food looks super good! I decided on having “Potato Hash with Salmon”, which seems to be a lot of people’s favourite. We ordered some desserts to share as well.
One of Elk Cafe’s famous dessert is the Panna Cotta. We wanted to try it, but it was unavailable then. Boo! More details about Elk Cafe here.
After breakfast, we traveled over to Burleigh Heads for their markets. We found out about it online. It’s only held a certain Sunday each month, and we so happen to be around for this specific date! Upon arrival, we found out the event has postponed due to the weather – it was a little rainy then. Detoured to Justin’s street nearby. They have quite some stuff to see, but none of us really bought anything. Gu and Brian ordered some smoothie and I had some crunchy fries!
It was a random find, but pretty good. It’s thick with all the crunchy bits surrounding it. The sad part is that they don’t give any sauce to go along with the fries, you have to buy them separately. I ordered the sweet chili, but later on saw that a lot of customers ordered gravy to go along with their fries instead. Should’ve tried that instead.
We were pretty free then and googled up this event where they had sculptures set up by the beach.
They had a lot of random stuff all over and tiny descriptions on each with the artist’s name.
One piece of art is represented by a bunch of washing machines just sitting there on the sand.
Here’s one of the washing machines..
Elaine Tan hiding from the wind.
After checking out all the art, we walked on down to checkout the diner by the beach. It’s towards a more rocky area where you have to climb the stairs up. It was kinda pricey, so we passed. Right beside was a rocky area for visitors to just enjoy the breeze and scenery. It was then that my favourite cap flew off my head and landed halfway on the rocks.
This is the view from the top. It was too high up to reach and moving the net didn’t help either.
(Can you spot the little boy there trying to be my hero?)
My favourite cap from H&M. Goodbye.
We decided to hunt for food elsewhere and went to Pacific Fair Mall.
It was 530pm, and the mall was closed. Opps! Only the patio area had some restaurants open. Nothing really caught our eye there so we headed back to Surfers and had Korean food! We pass by this specific korean restaurant each time we head home and the aroma from the shop is just heavenly! While waiting for seats, an older couple walked out and told us it’s the best korean food around the area! We had BBQ ribs, Pork Belly, korean pancake and some side dishes. Everything was great, and then… Elaine ordered the most expensive plain lettuce ever!!!
She couldn’t not have lettuce with her korean meal, so she ordered plain lettuce that cost AUD7!!! My heart would ache if I spent so much money on just a bowl of plain lettuce!
We traveled back, washed up and watched ‘The Secret Life of Pets’ with some wine. Elaine and Gu fell asleep halfway through. Gu was still holding his wine glass in his hands and we quickly removed it. Brian and I were still watching. My eyes were really heavy though! It was a really tiring day. Halfway through, Brian accidentally knocked over his wine glass that was left on a table beside him. We cleared up the glass and decided to call it a night. We informed the hostess about it and offered to pay for it or buy a new one, she was alright with it and didn’t comment much. Thank goodness.
That marks the adventures of Day 7!
