Started my morning going round the hotel to take some videos of the place and then practiced my drawing by the private pool.
We went for breakfast at 8am and stuffed ourselves till the clock striked 9. We took our time to get ready and headed off to a museum. We got our tickets from the hotel which were slightly cheaper than purchasing them outside.
We weren’t allowed to take any photos in the museum. You can choose to pay to get a translating device or a tour guide. We went on without either option. We explored the rooms ourselves and had help understanding certain stories from the museum staff stationed there. There will be someone in each room and they’ll gladly share what they know.
After the museum, we went over to Pub Street for a massage. It was around 3pm and the streets were still clear. We’re thankful to find the place open and able to fit 3 of us (Shuh Min decided to take a walk around Pub Street instead).
Chin Fong & Jo Bee got themselves a full body massage and I got a hot stone massage. The pricing for an hour of hot stone massage in Malaysia is at Rm100+, but right then in Pub Street, it was only about usd13 which translates to about Rm50.
An hour later, we head off to our late lunch/dinner at Blue Pumpkin.
I had a beef burger and fries. It was surprisingly good! The patty was flavourful and tender.
This was Chin Fong’s. I taste tested it too! The soup and all is great, but I really didn’t like the noodles.. at all. I’ve tried other noodles during this trip too, I somehow found them all bad. Haha. Their noodles aren’t smooth and thin like how these kind usually are. It’s rather thick and chewy-ish. I really don’t recommend it. Heh.
Dessert. Ice cream and fruits.
One thing I learnt about Cambodia that I find very important to keep note of, is that they are very particular about their money. Whether it is USD or Cambodian Riel, they do not accept money that have a lot of creases, are slightly fading around the crease, are dirty, are stained, or have a small tear.
Here are some examples :
This Usd20 has been quite hard to dispose of thanks to the tiny blue stain on the edge.
I’ve been trying to spend this Usd10 for the longest time and no one wants to accept it here because of the crease.
Though they don’t accept these, they WILL however, give you their money in that condition. If you are a tourist, they’ll try to pass those money off to you and you may not be able to use it. If you ever come across it, just request for them to change for you – they will do so and they might even laugh about it because they know exactly what you’re talking about. That’s what happened to us. haha!
The night gets even more happening as time passes. There were so many stalls and things for sale. I ended up purchasing a pair of long pants for usd12. The only thing is, the pants require you to tie the back and the front, and is a bit troublesome to wear. It’s not very toilet friendly. I love the color and the style, but now I’m unsure if I made the right choice. Haha. Whoops!
After everything, we took a tuktuk back to our hotel, and bed time rolled by.
Day 4
The next morning, I quickly washed up, packed my bags and squeezed in some reading time by the garden. When everyone is up, we went for breakfast. We continued to get ready for check out and left our room at 1130am. Halfway walking towards the lobby, we met with the airport staff who was heading our way to pick up our luggages. How nice! They knew we were checking out at about 1140am and came to assist us.
I’m extremely happy with my stay at Metta Residence and I highly recommend it.
Well, that’s all for now! Cheers!
